LET'S WORK
TOGETHER
!

Here's some info on prepping your quilt along with some other helpful tips.

You will also find a link at the bottom of the page to get started.

PREPPING YOUR QUILT

What size should my backing be?

To ensure your quilt loads properly on the frame, your backing should be squared and include an extra 4" ON ALL SIDES. Example: Quilt top measures 60" x 80", backing should be at least 68" x 88" minimum.

If your backing is pieced, please make sure your seam is horizontal and pressed open (I like to use a 1/2" seam allowance on my backings). If you would like me to piece and square your backing, just let me know!

Tidy it up!

Please press your top and backing so that it's nice and tidy and ready for me to load. Clip stray threads or frayed edges as best as you can. You might not be able to get them all, but to prevent dark threads from shadowing through your quilt top, please don't skip this important step!

Extra fees may apply if I need to put additional time and effort into getting your quilt ready to load. If you have questions about prepping your top/backing, please ask.

Quilting Choice:

I want this process to be fun for you and not overwhelming! If you're facing decision paralysis, you have the option of having me make the decisions for you or we can brainstorm together.

Shipping Your Quilt Top and Backing:

Once your request has been accepted, I will provide my shipping address. I recommend sending your materials enclosed in a large polybag or plastic bag to protect your fabrics from moisture and dirt in transit. This bag should be placed in a tear-proof poly mailer or cardboard box, securely taped and clearly labeled.

Return Shipping:

I will send your quilt back to you in the manner described above via USPS Priority mail (using flat rate when possible/economical). Priority mail comes with $100 of insurance and a tracking number. Please indicate on your intake form if you would like me to buy any additional insurance on your behalf. It's a great idea to insure your valuables against loss or damage while with the postal service, but it's not required.

For added security, you can drop an airtag in your package and I'll be happy to return it with your quilt. I haven't personally had any quilts go missing in the mail, but I've heard all the stories! I would hate for your quilt to get lost.

If you are local to Puyallup, WA, I would be happy to arrange a drop off/pick up at no charge.
